Hiking Report: Hillwalking to Tarebhir

On the Saturday morning of Jestha 9, 2083, the students of Grade 9 along with four teachers of Deerwalk Sifal School embarked on an unforgettable hiking adventure starting from the gates of Shivapuri national park to the breathtaking scenery that could be viewed from Tarebhir. All the participants of the hike accumulated at the school venue for our annual journey. We were initially supposed to arrive at the complex by 7:30 AM and by 8AM all of the participating students arrived. As we all gathered around at the courtyard with faces full of excitement and enthusiasm, the day seemed to grow more and more special. The sky looked bright as if it were representing the eager faces of the participants as they grouped and chatted about the thrills they would experience. Looking at the warm and comfortable environment, it truly felt like the day couldn't get any better.

At 8:20AM, the students along with the teachers boarded two buses and headed for our destination at the Army checkpost at Budhanilkantha. After reaching our destination, all the participants exited the buses and started walking uphill towards the army checkpost. It took all the students around half an hour to walk uphill to the gate amidst the teasing and joking. After reaching the checkpoint everyone rested for a while whilst the teachers received the tickets to enter the national park. Some munched on snacks while others huddled in small groups laughing, excited for the adventure. After taking a group photo in front of the gate we entered and started for the jungle trail. The faster ones immediately took the lead while the comparatively slower ones walked behind leisurely. We hiked on occasion, taking short breaks to take in the jungle scenery or wash up in the small tranquil streams with the cold icy water. The hike was entertaining as friends laughed at each other as both fell down or as they attempted to remember math formulas they left at school whilst failing miserably. We sometimes took shortcuts adding even more thrills to the journey. Our group then took another break where we took a short break and a group photo. We then continued on our way to Nagi Gumba. After reaching Nagi Gumba, we rested and took a 1hour lunchbreak. Everyone felt tired and hungry so we feasted on the lunch vigorously.

After finishing our lunch, we headed downhill. Teasing and gossiping, we reached the hillside where there were letters writing “WE LOVE TAREVIR”. We took some pictures and continued to Gokarneshwor where our bus would pick us up. As we made our way through the Tamang village, we took pictures, jumped around and also fell down. Afterwards we walked downhill to Gokarneshwor where our bus was waiting for us. We boarded the bus and headed to our school, tired but content. After having Rice, Daal and Meat/Paneer, we parted ways and headed home with happy and full stomachs. Nothing beats a good meal after an adventurous hike.

Hike to tarebir

On the morning of Jestha 9, 2083, the grade 9 students of Deerwalk Sifal School, were taken on a hiking trip from the entrance of Shivapuri National Park to the stunning viewpoint of Tarebhir, accompanied by four teachers.

All participants gathered at the school early in the morning at 7:30am .Everyone cheerfully talked with their friends while making a line. Even though the weather wasn’t that bright the enthusiasm of the group created a pleasant atmosphere that made the day feel especially promising. At around 8:20 the students and teachers boarded two buses and traveled near Budhanilkantha Mandir. Upon arrival, everyone got off the buses and began the uphill walk to the national park entrance. The climb took about thirty minutes and most of the students were drenched with sweat desperate for shade.Once at the checkpoint, the group rested while the teachers completed the ticketing process for park entry. Some students enjoyed snacks, while others gathered in small groups to chat and relax. Before beginning the hike, everyone gathered for a group photo in front of the gate. Soon after, the adventure officially began as the group entered the forest trail.

As the hike progressed, students paused occasionally to admire the natural beauty of the forest or cool themselves in small streams flowing with refreshing cold water. The journey remained lively and friends joked with one another, laughed over minor slips and falls. At times, the group even took shortcuts that looked dangerous adding an extra sense of excitement to the trek. After a short rest and a group photo, the students continued their hike towards Nagi Gumba. Upon reaching the monastery area, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved one-hour lunch break. Tired from the hike and eager to eat, the students enjoyed their meals while taking time to recover their energy. Following lunch, the group began descending toward Tarebhir. Along the way, students continued chatting, teasing one another, and sharing stories. They eventually arrived at the hillside marked by the large "WE LOVE TAREVIR" sign, where many photographs were taken to capture the memorable moment. The journey then continued towards Gokarneshwor, where the buses would be waiting.Passing through a village, the students spent their time taking pictures, having fun, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. There were plenty of laughter as some jumped around and occasionally stumbled during the walk. Finally, the group made its way downhill to Gokarneshwor and reunited with the waiting buses.

The return trip to school was filled with a mixture of exhaustion and satisfaction. After arriving, everyone enjoyed rice, daal, and either meat or paneer. With wonderful memories of the day, the students and teachers bid their goodbyes and headed home. The adventure had come to an end, and many left with sore jelly legs and joyful memories.
