Swastika Khadgi
We started our day early and left Deerwalk Dhading School at around 6:00 AM. After reaching Thadobato, we had breakfast together. We enjoyed chana, eggs, and tea before beginning our hike. Some of us had black lemon tea, while others preferred milk tea. After breakfast, everyone was ready and excited to start the hike.
We started walking towards Sikrekhola at around 7:15 AM.After reaching Sikrekhola, we stopped for a while, bought some light snacks and water and continued towards Boksi Odar. The weather was cloudy, and the trail was surrounded by green hills and trees. For some time, we walked alongside the river, enjoying the gentle sound of the flowing water. The cool air and fresh surroundings made the walk pleasant, and we enjoyed the peaceful view as we continued along the trail.
As we went farther, the trail became more challenging. Some parts were slippery because of the rain, and we also had to deal with leeches. Whenever someone found a leech on their foot, others would stop to help remove it. The funny reactions made everyone laugh and kept the mood light. We also met some kind and helpful local people who showed us the right way. Along the trail, we tried lapsi, pear and local kulfi.
Near Boksi Odar, we came across Boksi Jharana, hidden behind thick bushes. At first, we could hardly see the waterfall. We used sticks to clear the bushes and slowly made our way closer. When we finally reached it, we were all happy to see the waterfall. The cold, clear water and green surroundings made the place feel peaceful and refreshing. One of our staff members from Dhading told us that people from Kanakot also drink the same water. It was an unexpected find and one of the highlights of our hike.
We reached Kafal Chaur at around 12:00 PM and rested at a chautara. We opened our bags and shared our snacks, including noodles, real juice, popcorn etc.We also had fresh cucumbers with salt and chilli powder, which tasted really good after the long walk. After eating, everyone felt more relaxed. Some took group photos, others made TikTok videos, and soon there was singing and dancing. The teachers' reactions to some of our activities made everyone laugh. For a while, nobody seemed to care about the tiredness.
At around 2:00 PM, we started our walk back. The trail was narrow and slippery, and many of us slipped along the way, but luckily, nobody was injured. The four-hour walk back was tiring, but singing songs, dancing and talking made it easier. We finally reached our destination at around 6:00 PM. Before ending the day, we stopped at a transit house and had mutton and rice. After such a long walk, everyone was hungry and enjoyed the meal.
By the end of the day, we were tired, but we were also happy with how everything had turned out. We had rain, leeches, slippery paths and a long walk, but we also saw green hills, a flowing river, fresh air, local food and a beautiful hidden waterfall. The best part was being able to experience all of it together. If you enjoy walking, nature and a little adventure, this is the kind of place that can turn an ordinary day into a memorable one.
