Yashasvi Raj Pant It was my first hiking from office. I was supposed to reach the office at 7:45 A.M. Due to late night stay the previous day, I was a bit late and reached the office at 8 A.M. Thanks to the late night Euro Cup fever I got excused. I, along with Kamal, Pawan and Rajan left for our destination in Deerwalk HiAce. On our way, we picked up Biplav, Dirghayu, Dinesh, Harish, SureshG, SureshL and Vivek. As morning shows the day, the journey was already fun and exciting with lots of chit-chat and selfie/wefie. We went through Pharping and stopped the HiAce at Khahare where we encountered ‘Kamal Madira Store’. Definitely, Kamal owed us a booze party then. We started our hike after some breakfast.
We hiked through the hills with some chit-chat, selfie/wefie, group photos, videos, Jumba dance and lots of other fun stuff. We also got a chance to have some peach offered by generous local people.

There was a light rain on our way, but we reached Champadevi through Deurali without caring about it. Of course, there were leeches on the path to add excitements to the journey. We stayed in some time at the top worshipping the goddess, having some snacks, clicking photos and videos. Rain was a bit heavy while returning. We shared umbrella to return. The way was slippery, but it was the fun part of the hike specially for me as I was the one who set up the record to slip down nearly a dozen times. We returned through the hattiban resort after nearly 6 hours hike and headed toward the Thakali Hotel located at Sanepa in Deerwalk HiAce for the late lunch at about 4:30 PM. All of us had a bit more lunch than usual due to the hunger and relaxed sometime with some cold drinks after the late lunch. We returned from there with lots of memories and happy moments. I reached home at about 7 PM and slept instantly due to the tiredness. Overall the journey was exciting with lots of fun on the way from Deerwalk to Champadevi and again to the Deerwalk. As quoted by Kamal, “A day hiking increases 10 days lifespan”, I really felt so. I felt myself fresh and refreshing, off course with some body ache.
Harish Thagunna “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – Anonymous As the line says, we travel for life not to escape us, I had decided to travel as much as I got the opportunity. I was very excited for the first hike from Deerwalk Inc. It was scheduled to be on July 3, 2016 and the hiking destination was decided to be Champadevi. I woke up early in the morning and freshen up myself and packed a small bag with a jacket and an umbrella. It was planned to leave the office at 8 am. Few of us reached the office and others caught the office van on the way. We reached Pharping village (on the way to Dakshinkali temple), the starting point of hike, at about 9:30 am. We had heavy breakfast at the local hotel there. Our breakfast was composed of chana fried with aaloo, boiled egg, aaloo chops and milk tea. We started to walk at about 9:30 am. We asked the locals for the shortest route to reach Champadevi. The local people, local houses were signifying the clear figure of average Nepali. The hiking route was into the deep pine forest. Leeches on the way added more fun as well as fear. After about 2 hours of walk we reached the top of the hill somehow plain the place called Deurali. We took rest there and had dry foods that we had taken. After about 45 minutes’ walk from Deurali we reached our destination Champadevi.
The beautiful sceneries, photo clicking, video shooting, pleasant weather, drizzling rain fall and fast flying fog made our hike more natural.
The beautiful sceneries, photo clicking, video shooting, pleasant weather, drizzling rain fall and fast flying fog made our hike more natural. We spent at the top about 30 minutes and at about 1:30 pm we returned back from top. From Deurali we took the next route towards Hattiban. The way was too slippery and few of our friends fell down which added a sort of fun. Funny talks, photo clicking continued throughout the route. At about 4 pm we reached Hattiban village. We waited for some time for our office van to arrive. We took the van to Sanepa for having Thakali food. Every one of us were so hungry that without delay we started having delicious food which made us to forget our tiredness. After having food, we rest for a while talking on interesting topics. At about 6 pm we headed back to our house. Although we were tired of six hours of walk, but our mind was full of unforgettable memory. At last I would like to thank the coordinators for organizing such a memorable hike and all my hike mates without whom it won’t be such a lively. I would like to thank Deerwalk for providing such opportunities to deerwalkers.
