Dibyamshu Shrestha On Saturday 7th October 2017, Squad D had its two day hike from Thankot to Kulekhani with a night stop at Chitlang. The office van dropped us off at Thankot, which was starting point of our hiking. The trial run for DeerRun delayed our usual tradition of starting a hike earlier in the day. Hence, it was 1pm when we started the hike. The beginning of the trail was uphill. There was frequent resting as we needed recharge our energy every now and then to continue on our expedition. We could see the beautiful scenic Kathmandu valley during our walk uphill. In about 2 and a half hours we reached the top of the hill.
From there, we could see Chitlang down below in the valley, which motivated us to reach the destination as early as possible.
From there, we could see Chitlang down below in the valley, which motivated us to reach the destination as early as possible. After that, the journey was mostly downhill. In about two hours, we reached Chitlang Organic Village Resort. The resort was located in a very pretty surrounding with natural ambience. Tired from our journey, we got some snacks and freshened up. At night, we had different activities at resort. There was a bonfire and mini-disco. The night ended with all of us dancing and singing with the other guests at the resort. We got up early the next day since we had to hike to Kulekhani from Chitlang. After breakfast and taking pictures at the resort we set for second part of our hiking. The trial was mostly straight road and it was relatively easy compared to the previous day. After about 3 hours we reached the upper side of Kulekhani Dam. The afternoon sun had just begun to show up as we continued our walk. After walking for about 2kms, a Deerwalk’s van came to pick us up. It was a great relief for us to finally be able to sit. We stopped in Kulekhani for some snacks and then headed towards Kathmandu. It took us a little more than 2hrs to reach Balkhu. The trip ended with everyone singing and talking about our trip in the van as we headed home.
