Our Wild, Rainy, and Unforgettable Hike to Chisapani
One fine morning, a group of 11 enthusiastic hikers from DSS, DDS and DWIT gathered at the
Deerwalk premises, ready for a day filled with laughter, adventure, and the great outdoors. We
kicked things off with a hearty breakfast at 109 Degree Restaurant, then set off toward our
starting point near a scenic little bridge. Spirits were high, and the weather was just right—cool,
slightly overcast, but perfect for hiking.

The First Stretch: Laughter, New Friends & Jhule
From the moment we hit the trail, the vibe was light-hearted and full of energy. We joked,
chatted, and even met a few friendly students from other colleges along the way. The initial
stretch was smooth and fun, with beautiful views and nonstop conversation. After walking about
7 kilometers in 3 hours, we reached Jhule, our first checkpoint. But we still had 8 kilometers
more to go before reaching Dhap Dam.

Rain, TikToks & Unexpected Guests (Leeches!)
As we continued our journey, the skies decided to surprise us. It started to drizzle, then rain
steadily—but instead of hiding from it, we embraced the moment. Out came the phones, and
soon we were dancing, laughing, and filming TikTok videos in the rain!
Then came a new challenge—leeches. They started crawling onto our shoes and legs, causing a
mix of panic and laughter. What could have been annoying actually turned into another part of
the adventure. We helped each other out, and even the leech battle became a story to remember.

A Much-Needed Food Break
Eventually, hunger struck. We found a peaceful spot to take a break, surrounded by nature. Out
came the snacks—fruits, fresh salads, and some amazing homemade Newari food. It felt like
a mini picnic in the middle of nowhere. Refueled and refreshed, we set out again with renewed
energy.

Arrival at Dhap Dam – And the Downpour Begins
We finally made it to Dhap Dam, only to be greeted by heavy rain. We quickly found shelter
under a small roof and waited it out for about an hour. Some of us had umbrellas and raincoats,
while others decided to just enjoy the downpour, laughing and soaking in the moment—literally!

A Somber Pause and a Warm Cup of Tea
On our way back, we passed a house still damaged from the devastating earthquake years ago. It
was a sobering reminder of the resilience of our country and how much rebuilding is still
needed. We stopped nearby for a warm cup of tea, letting the moment sink in while resting our
tired legs.

The Most Terrifying Van Ride Ever
The trail back had become too slippery to walk safely, so we hired a local Bolero van—designed
for six, but we somehow managed to squeeze in all eleven of us! With some standing, others
half-seated, and everyone getting splashed by rain and mud, the van ride felt like something
straight out of an action-comedy. The road was narrow, steep, and dangerous, but the energy
was pure chaos and laughter. Every bump and swerve added to the thrill.

Dinner, Stories & a Perfect Ending
At long last, we reached our vehicle and made our way back to 109 Degree Restaurant for a
well-earned dinner. It was 8 PM by the time we arrived—soaked, muddy, exhausted, and
incredibly happy. We shared stories, laughed about the wild van ride, and wrapped up the day on
a high note.

This hike had everything—rain, dance, unexpected guests (yes, leeches!), laughter, challenges, and
unforgettable memories. It was fun, a little crazy, and truly one of the most memorable hikes we’ve
ever had.
