The hike from Tinpiple to Guruje Bhanjhang offers a moderate to challenging hike through scenic forests, rural villages, and ridgelines with stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding Shivapuri National Park. Starting from Tinpiple, a small village at about, the trail ascends through steep staircases and reaches the majestic Bhubaneshwori Temple.
The trail gets mellowed down as we approach the Tarkeshwor Mahadev temple, a popular hindu pilgrimage site with panoramic views of the valley. There are several viewpoints along the way where we paused to admire the valley.
From there, the trail continues passing through a mix of native trees such as rhododendron, pine, small red berries tree, orchids, waterfalls and army para commando camp.
Throughout the hike, we made it a fun and memorable adventure with impromptu TikTok marathons, bhajans, and plenty of photos. We savored homemade sel roti, sadheko gundruk, karko, and the fiery akbare khursani achar, all while snacking on bhuteko makai and bhatmas.
The trail eventually leads to Guruje Bhanjhang, a serene ridge-top village, the perfect spot to wrap up our hike, complete with a few crunches and a serious plank battle to finish off the adventure with some fun. Special mention to Yaghya, who powered through an impressive 137 crunches and held a 6-minute plank, becoming the second person to go beyond 5 mins plank record.
In summary, This hike combines nature, hindu shrines, and moderate physical challenge, making it a rewarding day trip for those looking to experience the beauty and tranquility of the Kathmandu Valley’s foothills.
