Hiking to Rani Jhula – An Unforgettable Morning Adventure
We’re taking you on a peaceful and refreshing hike from Muhan Pokhari to Rani Jhula, continuing on toward Buddha Park and finally to the Nagarkot View Tower. Let’s dive into the journey!
Our day began bright and early at 6:30 AM from the Deerwalk Complex. We hopped into a Deerwalk vehicle, backpacks loaded and spirits high, ready for a day of nature and exploration. The road to our starting point was quiet and calm, perfect for setting the tone of the hike.
Around 7:30 AM, we were dropped off near Muhan Pokhari, where the real adventure would begin. Before hitting the trail, we had a quick breakfast at the only restaurant around, UTurn Restaurant. It wasn’t fancy, but after a sleepy drive, the warm tea and local breakfast really hit the spot. It felt like a hidden gem tucked away at the edge of the forest.
From Muhan Pokhari, we started walking along the highway for a short stretch before branching off into a forested trail. The walk to Rani Jhula was serene, surrounded by chirping birds, fluttering butterflies, and a canopy of tall, swaying trees. The fresh air and greenery felt like therapy after a busy week.
The highlight of this stretch was undoubtedly Rani Jhula: A beautifully crafted suspension bridge gracefully swaying over a lush, forested ravine. Since we arrived early, the place was blissfully quiet with no crowd in sight, allowing us to fully enjoy the long bridge at our own pace. We took our time capturing photos, soaking in the surroundings, and feeling the gentle bounce of the wooden planks beneath our feet as the cool breeze whispered through the trees.
After some rest at Rani Jhula, we continued our hike toward Buddha Park. This part of the trail was a bit more challenging, with a mix of uphill climbs and narrow winding paths, but the surroundings kept us energized. Occasional glimpses of the valley below and prayer flags along the way added a peaceful vibe.
Reaching Buddha Park was a reward in itself, with its large Buddha statue standing tall amidst the trees, offering a quiet place to catch our breath and soak in some calm energy.
The last leg of our hike from Buddha Park to Nagarkot View Tower was perhaps the most rewarding. As we climbed higher, the views opened up. The air grew cooler, and the trees seemed to grow taller.
Finally, we arrived at Nagarkot View Tower and though the weather wasn’t clear enough to enjoy the full panoramic view of Kathmandu or the distant Himalayan range, the moment still felt special. We took a break there, snacked on some plums, snapped a few photos, and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere.
After spending some quiet time at the tower, we visited Babaji Kuti, adding a spiritual and serene touch to our hike. We then concluded our journey at Nagarkot Bazaar, where we treated ourselves to a hearty and satisfying Thakali lunch, the perfect way to wrap up a refreshing day in nature.
