A preplanned walk to Palanchowk Bagawati started just in front of Corporate building block, and by 6:10 Sagar Adhikari, Bharat Shatyal, Sanjish Wagle, Anuj Bhandari and me, Akash Shakya were already there. With Ram dai, gearing up for what was supposed to be an exciting day started with a nice song from Kailash Kher. The famous D2 Hawkeye microbus picked Sabita Khadka just in front of historic Gantaghar, and move towards Tripushwor to pick more ladies. We had to wait a bit, but at the mean time we got a call from Vishnu dai that there was bandha in Banepa and we could not head towards Palanchowk. There was uncertainty in everyone’s mind as where our destination was going to be. We were disucssuing about possible options and waiting for the others to arrive. We decided to discuss the location on our way to Surya binayak where we needed to pick Sreejana Prajapati. The way from Tripureshwor to Suryabinayak didn’t seem long with discussion on possible routes, and ofcourse the interesting meeting of Sabita and Money, as they studied in same class for two years during +2 and they hardly knew each other. We had our breakfast(jeri, puri, tarkari, curd and tea) at Suryabinayak and decided to have a walk from Telkot to Sundarijal visiting Sankhu.
“………………………the interesting meeting of Sabita and Money, as they studied in same class for two years during +2 and they hardly knew each other”
With some hit number on radio, there were some interesting talks going on about ghosts, movies and load shedding, and in no time we reached Telkot. With a small meeting with the locals in Telkot, we got an idea about our route. And with one of the unusual beginnings of hiking we were hiking down the hills rather than up. But by then it already seemed like it was going to be a hot day, but with a bit of breeze by our side and frequent rivers, the walk went on. Photography was on card when there were some beautiful hills, but also when there were some tomatoes on farm. There were farms at some places and a rough way at others. But the discussion about the route continues and nobody exactly knew the right way to reach our destination, there were few logics about how easy it was to choose among two ways than to answer multi choice question in exams, as we can get 50-50, phone-o-friend, or even ask people round there. As it was hot,the stock of water we carried was finishing up sooner than expected, so we decided to have some titaura on the way. At about 9: 45, we
reached Sankhu. Everybody was excited to see Shali Nadi, though there was not much water flowing due to dry season.
As we moved along from Sankhu towards Sundarijal, it was a harder way, as we had to move up the hill.On the way we heard about this amazing person who was starting his medication sitting in between a field with fire. Some of us were thinking about visiting that place, but most of us were tired, but later we knew that the medication was going to start from 4 in the evening, so we decided to move towards Sundarijal bazaar. We had quite a long rest there, but Sagar dai and Rashmi di were really enthusiastic to visit the hydropower station on the way.
“……………with one of the unusual beginnings of hiking we were hiking down the hills rather than up”
It was already 2 in afternoon and everybody was hungry battered by a hot and sunny day. But the destination still awaited us, as we ordered food and move towards the Sundarijal. It was hard and the stairs were pretty hard to climb. Adventure begins right here, as we found out the hidden fountain behind the rocks. The way was hard, but everybody was excited to reach up there, and play with high falling water. Somehow we reached there holding each other’s hands, and it was a great excitement to finally see what is supposed to be a wonderland. Ladies started taking pictures of everything they could probably find. Bharat dai, Ram dai and Ananta dai were already up the rocks, it was a bit hard to reach there, but it was so adventurous that ladies also had their try at it and finally got there. The later part of drama came when it was a bit windy and Anuj got wet by the glimpse of nature. Everybody was more than excited to get on camera, but the battery was already dying up.However, we managed to click some. Even if our destination was Sundarijal temple, everybody was tired and dying with hunger, so we decided to move towards Sundarijal bazzar with all our apologies to Sundarijal mai.
The fun part of the tour was still to come, after we had our lunch and Ram dai unfortunately had to shut the radio down, as there was Antakshari on the box. Everybody looked excited and was singing as if it was a fresh start. It was a day to remember!! The tyres of microbus rolled over and over and we all reached our destination as expected, without any hourly bandha that we were had heard about.
Very interesting topic , regards for posting . “I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world.” by Socrates.

I wish I can see more pictures and rate in more categories. I wonder why hiking reports these-days here in EU are lacking some enthusiasm in photography. How about this theme ‘Photography Hike’ for next hiking program? 🙂
