Introduction:
Sifal School successfully conducted a one day hike to Bishnudwar temple, Shivapuri National
Park on 17 th February, 2024. There were a total of 29 students, from Grade IX and Grade X. All
the students arrived at the DWIT courtyard by 10:00 AM, where we rode the bus to reach
Budhanilkantha. After an almost hour bus ride, we started the hike at around 11:10 AM. The
hike was pretty simple with a breathtaking view of nature without any major accidents.

During the hike, students naturally formed different groups based on their walking speed. After
following the students upfront, we ended up going the wrong direction, and had to follow an
alternative route to Bishnudwar. After reaching Bishnudwar and having some of us slip along the
way, we felt a sense of happiness on reaching our destination. We clicked some photos there to
save our memories. Having rested a bit, and after eating light snacks, we returned back from a
rather easy pathway. Taking pictures and videos of the scenery, singing songs, and cracking
jokes, we made our way back to the Shivapuri National Park gate.

Hiking Experience:

The hiking experience was quite delightful, thanks to a clear path and favorable weather
conditions. The trail provided the perfect balance of shade from the trees and warmth from the
sun. The path was simple to navigate, despite having gone the wrong direction. We took several
short breaks along the way, however managed to keep up the pace, and ended the hiking within
the scheduled time.

Highlights:

1) Scenic Beauty: The hike offered breathtaking views of Shivapuri National Park, with lush
greenery, and landscape.
2) Wildlife Encounters: During the hike, we encountered various wildlife species from several
different birds to even a bear cave.
3) Panoramic Views: The trail of the hike offered panoramic views of the Kathmandu valley,
hills and distant mountains.

Learning Outcomes:
1) Navigation Skills: The hike provided us an opportunity to practice navigation skills,
especially when we encountered a wrong turn.
2) Geographical Location: The hike allowed us to learn about the terrain within the park, which
varies from gentle slopes to rugged terrain.
3) Environment: Along the hike, diverse flora and fauna could be seen in the park.

Conclusion:
In essence, exploring Shivapuri National Park and Bishnudwar temple offers visitors a
memorable blend of natural blend, spiritual exploration, and cultural immersion. From the lush
forests and breathtaking view of the Kathmandu valley, the region captivates everyone who visits
the Shivapuri National Park.

Recommendation:
I highly recommend visiting Shivapuri National Park and Bishnudwar temple for a captivating
journey. The park’s breathtaking scenery, the dense forests and the flora and fauna, all provide
an ideal backdrop for a single day hike. The park offers activities such as hiking and wildlife
observation, along with casual exploration. Bishnudwar temple adds a cultural dimension,
serving as a sacred site. The park being inside the Kathmandu valley ensures easy access,
making it a convenient destination for people looking to explore nature.
