The wait was finally over. On Friday, 26th December 2025, the Grade 1 teams of Kanchenjunga and Lhotse, with a total of 43 students, set out for their first-ever hiking experience from school. The students were extremely excited, energetic, and curious from the day before the hike. They were eagerly looking forward to having fun together and experiencing a little tiredness along the way as part of the adventure.

At exactly 10:00 a.m., after lunch at school, the students boarded the Route 1 bus with great happiness. Although the morning was gloomy, the children’s excitement filled the atmosphere. The place was new to them, and many questions arose in their curious minds about the hike ahead. The bus journey began with Sanskrit mantras, followed by songs, cheerful chatter, and laughter. After a 20-minute journey, the bus reached the hiking destination, the Fulbari Gumba area.

After getting off the bus, the students formed pairs and began their hike. They walked along pitched roads, uphill and downhill paths, concrete and muddy roads, difficult trails, and jungle lanes, covering approximately 2.5 km. Though they felt tired at times, they stayed motivated. They drank water, took short rests, and observed a Chautara with a Peepal tree, learning about its importance. Photographs were taken to capture these moments.

After walking further, the group reached Jagdole Sahid Smarak Park. Tickets were collected, and the students explored the park. Snacks were arranged, and teachers watched carefully to keep monkeys away. With proper safety measures, the children enjoyed their snacks and learned values such as sharing and caring. They also had time to run, play tag, and enjoy free play.

The hike concluded smoothly, and at 2:30 p.m., everyone boarded the bus again. The students reached school safely by 3:00 p.m. Back in their classrooms, they happily shared their wonderful memories and small joyful incidents they experienced during the trip.

Overall, the day hike was a memorable, joyful, and enriching experience for the Grade 1 students, providing them with learning beyond the classroom and moments.
