On Magh 4, the grade 5 and 6 students of Deerwalk Sifal School gathered at school at 6:30 AM to go on a school tour to Chitwan. I was very excited. Although I had already gone to Chitwan with my family around five years ago, I don’t have many memories of that trip. That time, we stayed for only one night. I only remember that we rode an elephant named Mankali. I enjoyed the elephant ride a lot. I was excited to make new memories of Chitwan on my school trip.
I thought we would go in our school bus, but later I found out that we were going on a tourist bus. I liked the color of our tourist bus—it was brilliant blue. The bus was very clean and looked brand new. It was well-managed, and from inside, we could see a great view. My friend Aaron set a timer so we could know how long it would take to reach Chitwan. After 6 hours and 55 minutes, we reached Chitwan. It was evening when we arrived. We drank some sweet tea and went to watch the beautiful sunset over the river. It was a calming experience, much different from watching a sunset from the rooftop of my house.
In the evening, there was a campfire, and we danced and sang songs. I did not dance because my leg was hurting. Then we ate a delicious dinner-my favorite dish was roasted fish. After dinner, we went to watch the Tharu Cultural Program. The best part of the program was the peacock show and the fire show. The fire show was the coolest. I learned about the Tharu cultural dress and their unique way of dancing, which was much different from my cultural dress and dance.
On the second day, due to the excitement of being with my friends, I woke up at 4:30 AM. My friends also woke up, and we had fun in the room, chatting and laughing. At around 10:00 AM, we went for a jeep safari. The first animal we saw during the safari was a peacock. Then we came across a rhinoceros. Later, we saw more peacocks, as well as spotted deer and barking deer. I had a camera, so I captured some pictures of the animals. Then we saw a rhinoceros with its baby. After that, we came across a big river, where we saw many alligators and crocodiles. Then, for the first time in my life, I saw a kingfisher. It was so beautiful. We also came across some ducks and cranes.
After the safari, we returned to the resort. After lunch, we played some games in the garden, then went to our respective rooms to rest. Later, we visited the elephant breeding center. I was shocked to see such a big elephant named Ronaldo there. I was hoping to see some baby elephants, but we were told that it was just the beginning of the breeding season, so there were no baby elephants yet. Then we crossed a long bridge. I was scared to cross it at first, but after a while, I got used to it and stopped being afraid. After that, we went canyoning. While canyoning, we saw many alligators and crocodiles in the river. It was both scary and exciting to be in the same river as the alligators and crocodiles.
After returning to the resort, we had a painting session on cloth. We painted what we felt about the journey. Our group painted a campfire, a river, and an elephant as a symbol of our fun-filled tour.
The next day, we woke up at 6:00 AM and packed our bags to go back to Kathmandu. We enjoyed a short morning walk in the garden, ate our breakfast, and then rode the bus back to Kathmandu, feeling both happy to meet my parents and sad that our wonderful trip had come to an end.
Overall, the journey was fantastic and full of adventures. There was not a moment I did not enjoy. I want to visit this place again with all of my friends and teachers someday.

Our school had planned to take us to Sauraha, Chitwan, on the 4th of Magh. Everyone who was going, including us, was very excited. We had been eagerly waiting for this day, talking about it with our friends and making plans for the fun we would have. On the day of Magh 4th, we were all ready with our bags and belongings, double-checking to make sure we hadn’t forgotten anything important.
We left on a tourist bus at 8 o’clock and were served breakfast, which included mashed potatoes, a sandwich, and an egg. The journey to our destination was fun, and we saw beautiful scenery along the way. The green hills, winding roads, and small villages made the ride even more interesting. We also passed by the Trishuli River, which was breathtaking, with its sparkling waters rushing alongside the road.
After reaching our destination, Batika Resort, we took a group picture to capture the memory of our arrival. Then, we went to our assigned rooms, excited to settle in. We even saw a real rhino in the resort, which was a thrilling sight! After settling in, we changed our clothes and played a small game on the grassy ground. It was a great way to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Later, we went to watch the sunset, which painted the sky in shades of orange and pink, making the moment feel magical. After that, we enjoyed some Tharu cultural dances. They were amazing, with the performers dressed in traditional attire, dancing to the rhythm of the music! After that, we had an experience-sharing activity near a bonfire. Sitting around the warm fire, we shared our thoughts and laughed together, making memories we would cherish forever. Then, we went to our rooms after a good singing and dancing session and slept after the long and exciting day.
The next day, after waking up early in the morning, we got ready for an adventure-filled day. After breakfast, we went on a jeep safari in Chitwan National Park. It was an amazing adventure! The fresh jungle air, the sounds of birds chirping, and the thrill of spotting wild animals made the safari unforgettable. We saw rhinos, peacocks, elephants, and many more animals. The sight of a rhino up close left us in awe, and the colorful peacocks spreading their feathers were a beautiful sight. After that, we went canoeing, which was the most relaxing part of our trip. As we floated on the calm river, we admired the beauty of nature around us, feeling peaceful and refreshed. We really enjoyed it. When the boat stopped, we walked to an elephant breeding center, where we saw many elephants—almost all of them were named Ronaldo! It was amusing to hear the same name being repeated for so many elephants. Then, we crossed the scariest bridge we had ever seen. It was very wobbly, making each step feel like a challenge! After that, we returned to our resort and rested, reflecting on the exciting experiences of the day.
The next day, we woke up early to pack our bags and prepare for the journey back. We had one last look at the beautiful resort before heading back to Kathmandu, taking the same route we had come. On the way, we even spotted our school’s branch, DDS Deerwalk Dhading School, which made us feel proud. Finally, we reached our school, where our parents were waiting to pick us up. Though we were happy to see them, we also felt a little sad that the wonderful trip had come to an end.
