We picked up the other attendees as we drove to the much debated destination, “Lakhuri Bhanjhyang”. The ascent to the bhanjyang was much fun. Singing inside the bus, funny conversations among us troopers, and so much of hullabaloo.
We headed straight to our destination Lakhuri Bhanjhyang through Gwarko and Lubu. On the way we found that one of our buses had reached our spot, but the catering were not found.
After a quick visit to the nearby Bajrabarahi temple; boiled egg, jammed-bread, tarkari and tea were served in the breakfast.
The Kakani Mountain View hotel and resort. With like its name suggests, offers a nice view of the mountains and of Kathmandu is quite alluring. Mountain landscape of central Nepal, a vast collection of majestic peaks stretching from Ganesh Himal to the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
The Saturday morning of 30th March started early for most Deerwalkers as it was the day for Annual Picnic 2013 organized in Kakani. Everyone had already gathered at the venue by 10AM and after a quick breakfast there was just enough time to explore the area before the games began. The picnic spot and the grounds lay on a thickly forested area owned by Nepal Scouts and one could make out a mountain bike trail that led to Shivapuri National Park and beyond. The picnic also provided an opportunity for the employees to interact with the President of Deerwalk, Jeff Gasser, who had just flown in the day before.
Deerwalk Team was all set to celebrate the day with a picnic at Scout ground, Kakani. The presence of the Big Bs’ – Rudra Pandey and Jeff Gasser (Chairman, and President of the company respectively) – graced the program. I was enjoying the music and dance when everybody was called to the center of the ground. The two leaders were making some plans and finally the game was out. It was a 20-dollar prize quiz – all questions prepared on the fly – about Deerwalk. Each question was provided with two options.
For an urbanite like me who immediately reaches for his phone after hearing a tweet, 27 November 2010 was a welcome change. This day, we at Deerwalk went picnicking near Lakure Bhanjyang. And there, when we heard tweets we looked towards the trees. We were a wild bunch with only one thing on our minds, “to have fun”, and we got more than what we had expected.
