Jiri, in fact, is one of the major starting points for the mountain trek to the Mount Everest region. We took a rest as New Everest Lodge but also we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to get to the Chordung Cheese Factory before it got dark. The Chordung Cheese Factory is located at an altitude of 2633 meters. After a long hike, we reached our destination at around 5:30. But unfortunately, it cannot get cheese there because of the off season. The workers of the factory welcomed us.
After a long and somewhat tedious bus ride from our Deerwalk complex, we arrived at Dolakha for a fabulous lunch. We still had a long way to go till our final destination but, considering we were on schedule to reach there before nightfall, we decided to take a short detour and visit the Dolakha Bhimsen temple.
Cheese Factory at Chordung is located at an altitude of 2633 meters. The workers of the factory welcomed us. We could have got a chance to see the workings inside the factory, if it was not their day off. Still the factory owner explained the procedure of making cheese from scratch. We had some local cheese before returning to the hotel at 9:30 am. After lunch, we returned back to Kathmandu, it was 12:30 pm by then.
Although Newton’s second law of gravity came into play, serene sky & bright green field illuminated with resonating light mesmerized us to reach the destination. As we stared over the edge of the mountain with a feeling of awe, our hearts were jocund. The place had an aura of .. ammm “photo session”, soon everyone started giving pose. It was the hunger that pushed us more towards the Cheese factory literally, since we forgot to have breakfast at Jiri, we needed to have ‘Mahi’. Later we had to satisfy with cheese as November is not the season for Mahi.
