On 13th December 2025, the DWIT Hiking Club successfully organized a refreshing hike to Ranikot for the Class of 2029. The event offered students an opportunity to connect with nature, bond with classmates, and experience the beauty surrounding the Kathmandu Valley.

The day began early as participants gathered at the Deerwalk Complex at 7:30 AM, filled with excitement and enthusiasm. As instructed, everyone arrived well-prepared, dressed in comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear, with water bottles in hand. By 7:45 AM, the group boarded the bus and departed toward Suryabinayak, ready for an adventure that would soon turn into a memorable experience.

The drive was smooth and enjoyable, and at 9:00 AM, the group stopped for a short breakfast break. This pause allowed everyone to recharge before continuing the journey. By 10:20 AM, the team reached Ranikot, a destination renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Langtang and Manaslu, along with its serene hilltop environment.

The hike began with great enthusiasm as participants followed the trail through crisp air and scenic surroundings. The route offered stunning views of valleys and distant hills, lush forests, terraced farmlands, and glimpses of traditional Newari village life in Bhaktapur. The harmonious blend of nature and culture created the perfect atmosphere for conversation, laughter, and shared moments. Along the way, participants also took part in environmental conservation by cleaning the trail and maintaining the camping area, adding a meaningful purpose to the journey.

The group made brief stops to visit the Bagh Bhairab Temple and observe a nearby river. Although the river is typically wide, it appeared noticeably smaller due to the winter season—an observation that intrigued many participants. The calm surroundings and natural beauty further enhanced the hiking experience.

By 1:30 PM, the group reached the destination point. Standing there and taking in the panoramic scenery, everyone paused to appreciate the peaceful beauty of nature. Adding excitement to the day, a spontaneous decision was made to extend the hike toward Pilot Baba. During this unplanned yet joyful detour, the group enjoyed snacks, relaxed, and even joined a random picnic—dancing, laughing, and sharing moments of pure joy.

The return journey began at 2:00 PM as the group boarded the bus back to Kathmandu. Although traffic slowed the ride, the cheerful atmosphere remained unchanged. At 3:30 PM, the group stopped at Gyaneshwar for a delicious Thakali meal at D Moksha Mustang Thakali, which provided a much-needed energy boost. By 4:30 PM, the bus headed back toward Deerwalk College, arriving safely at 4:45 PM.

With tired legs but fulfilled hearts, everyone returned home carrying memories that would last long after the day ended. The Ranikot Hike was more than just a walk through nature—it was a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and shared purpose. With smooth coordination, active participation, and a strong spirit of togetherness, the event concluded as a truly successful and unforgettable experience.
