Sworup Dhakal
Greetings Everyone,
The Latarambeshwor Mahadev hiking event organized by the DWIT Hiking Club was not only a journey through nature but also a meaningful experience filled with teamwork, adaptability, and shared moments among all participants.
A total of 20 participants gathered at the college premises at 7:00 AM, ready and enthusiastic for the hike. Due to rainfall, the departure was delayed, and the journey officially began at 8:00 AM via the college bus. The group reached Tika Bhairav at 10:15 AM, where they stopped for breakfast. The weather remained unpredictable throughout the day—rainy in some areas, sunny in others, and mostly cloudy—adding an element of uncertainty to the journey.
After breakfast, the group resumed travel at 11:20 AM. Along the way, minor landslides and poor road conditions were observed, presenting additional challenges. Despite these obstacles, participants remained positive, and the journey continued in good spirits.
After approximately an hour, the group reached the starting point of the hike. However, shortly after arrival, rainfall resumed. Despite the unfavorable conditions, participants began the hike equipped with umbrellas. As the group progressed, the rain intensified, and upon reaching the midpoint, the coordinators made the decision to turn back due to increasing safety risks. Respecting their guidance and prioritizing safety, the group returned to the bus.
The return journey to Kathmandu then began. On the way, the group stopped at D-Moksha Mustang Thakali in Gyaneshwor at around 5:00 PM, where everyone enjoyed a satisfying meal. Finally, the participants arrived safely back at the college premises at 5:40 PM.
Although the hike could not be completed as originally planned, the experience highlighted the importance of safety, teamwork, and adaptability. It served as a reminder that even when plans change, meaningful experiences and memories can still be created. The trip remained enjoyable and valuable for everyone involved.
