Discovering Tranquility: The Dhap Dam Hike
As the sun kissed the horizon on December 23, 2023, our journey to Dhap Dam began from Deerhold Complex at around 8:30 AM. A group of 6, our hike was set to start from Sundarijal, so we enjoyed a nice breakfast there before embarking on our exciting journey. We bought some snacks and energy drinks to keep us fueled along the way so that our energy levels remained high throughout our 14-kilometer journey to the coveted destination of Dhap Dam.
As we set off, we reached Sundarijal Dam after a few minutes of walking. The trail then forked into two paths, with one leading to Chisapani and the other to Haibugn. The weather that day was in our favor, with a clear blue sky adorned with white clouds, enhancing the breathtaking views of mountains, jungles, rivers, and charming villages. The trail was relatively easy, and suitable for hikers of all levels, though it did become steep and challenging in some places.
During our journey, we stopped at a few rest stops, enjoying some food and energy drinks to recharge, and taking the chance to soak in the beauty surrounding us. As the clock inched towards 1:30 PM, our perseverance paid off as we finally set foot upon our sought-after destination—the Dhap Dam. The view was spectacular, with the blue sky and cold air adding an extra touch to the serene dam view. All the pain endured during the hike was forgotten as we clicked some photos and savored snacks against the backdrop of the beautiful scenery, cold air, and warm sun. The shared joy of reaching the destination, surrounded by the serenity of the dam made every ounce of effort worthwhile, leaving us with a treasured memory to cherish forever.
After spending an hour at the Dam, we bid farewell to the stunning place. We replenished ourselves with a satisfying lunch preparation before heading back to Sundarijal at around 3 PM. As the sun bid its farewell at around 6.30 PM, we reached Sundarijal and said goodbye to our memorable trek to Dhap Dam, carrying with us not just tired bodies but hearts brimming with joy and memories that would last a lifetime.
