Sanjaya Pokharel Kathmandu Valley-Chisapani trek is a very popular trekking route for a memorable hike around the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley. The weather in Chisapani is always cold as its name - Chisapani, meaning “cold water” in Nepali where you will enjoy the real boon of nature being away from the noise of Kathmandu feeling better to be away from crowded busy city life and your interaction with the local people will add another experience.
It was a clear Saturday morning. We the group of 8 people gathered at deerwalk premises at around 6.45 AM. At approx. 7.15 AM we started our journey from the office and picking up other participants as well from the mid-way. We reached Sundarijal at around 8.15. Altogether, we were 12 people at the beginning of our hiking. We had some breakfast at Sundarijal at around 8.30 AM. We did some shopping for hiking. We bought chips and chocolates and then we started hiking. In the beginning the trail pierces Shivapuri National Park passing through a big watershed that provides 40 percent drinking to Kathmandu Valley. The first two hours was like hell, a straight continuous steep uphill path which never looked like ending. We took lots of short rests during the first two hours of hiking. During this two-hour of hiking we passed through Shivapuri National Park. We need to buy tickets to enter the National Park. After walking for around 2 and half hour we decided to have a lunch because that hotel was the only single left till we reach Chisapani and we still had to walk for more than 2 hours. While we had to wait around an hour to have lunch, we decided to have some enjoyment by playing cards. It was really an amazing play where each member was participating in the play. It was also one of the moment where people from different departments came closer with each other and started being frank to each other.
The path was little easier than the 1st 2 hour of Hike. So after 2 hours of hiking finally we started moving downhill.
After we had our lunch, we decided to start our journey at around 12.30 PM. The hiking was like walking in the Jungle. The path was so fabulous that we took a lot of snaps and videos. The path was little easier than the 1st 2 hour of Hike. So after 2 hours of hiking finally we started moving downhill. It was a bit of relief for all of us. We started seeing some houses far away on hills. Ya that seemed to be Chisapani. So after 5 hours of hiking we reached Chisapani. It's a very good place with open space. We can see Himalayan ranges like Ganesh Himal and Langtang range as well from there. At chisapani, there are only few numbers of resorts and hotels. Rooms were quite expensive in compared to what we had thought. We took some rest and had tea and wai-wai soup. After that, we decided to have some enjoyment during the evening time with the help of barbeque. But, meat available was too much expensive which we couldn't afford with our budget. So we only decided to have fire camp and talk with each other, get to know each other from different departments. At around 8, we had our dinner and again staying for around 2 hours we went to bed with all the tired body.
The very next day i.e. 11th of March our route was different than we had taken to go to chisapani. Our destination was Chauki Bhanjyang for the second day. We woke up at 8 AM and got fresh and had some breakfast. After that we packed our bags and started our journey which was around 5-6 hours to reach the destination. During our journey, we had speakers that made our journey easier. Listening to various songs and various gossips among the members, we didn’t feel much difficult to walk. The path was also quite straight but we walked around 16 KM while we reached at Chauki Bhanjyang. At Chauki Bhanjyang, every single person was very tired and we decided to order for lunch. After waiting for an hour our lunch was ready and we had the very delicious lunch. After that our vehicle arrived there and we returned to office.
In a nutshell, walking through jungle and hearing bird chirpings to from sundarijal-Chisapani-Chauki Bhanjyang was really a pleasurable hiking.
Sujan Chauhan The day started early. We left the Office premises with a lot of excitement and hopes about the route. The destination was marked at Chisapani. We left the office premise at around 7 am in the morning, had breakfast at Sundarijal. There were 13 hikers and after finishing our breakfast, we started our hike to chisapani through Sundarijal. The up-straight steps made our hike difficult in the beginning but the beautiful sceneries didn’t let our hopes die.
After about 5 hours of climbing those stairs, we reached the top of the mountain and were mesmerized by the mountain views, rivers and the capital, Kathmandu Valley. Then we took rest for few moments and order food on one of the hotel near mulkharka. After having our lunch we rest for half an hour and then move forward following our destination, Chisapani. After walk of around 4 hours we reached to our destination. First thing we all did while we are in destination is get ourselves ready and manage the room. Then we had some light snacks. After that some roam here and there while some stay playing cards. The hospitality was admirable. The night was more of enjoyable one rather than tired. We enjoyed campfire after the dinner and some funny talks among the hikers.
Next day we all woke up early, had some breakfast and discuss among hikers to follow which route and where will be our destination. Then we finalize our destination for the day was Chowki Bhangyan. Then we started our hike buying some biscuits and noodles for the way. Comparatively, route was easier than the last day. The plain road for some point makes us happy but at some point we all tired of walking plain road and we all wished to walk through the jungle. After the walk of 3-4 hours we took shortcut to Chowki Bhangyan from Jhule. The way was awesome and we all feel relief and excited to walk through the mid-way of jungle.

After descended for half an hour we reached to Chowki Bhangyan. Some of our friends were still to come so we took rest near shop having tea. After we all gather, we order the food and call for the bus. After waiting of around 1 hour our food was almost ready and food was delicious, might be of hunger. The bus also arrived, Deepak Gurung was the driver. He also had lunch. While we are having lunch it suddenly started to rain fall. Immediately finishing our food, we sat on bus and departed to the office.
