Hiking to Chisapani

It took 40 minutes to reach our first destination, Sundarijal. The next morning, we learned why the place was called Chisapani. We checked in Hotel Mountain view at Lapshiphedi and had our dinner.
After I saw my name in the list of hiking teams I was eagerly waiting for Sunday 28-12-2014. It was decided that we all will go for a hike from Sundarijal to Shivapuri. I was very excited because it was my first hike from Deerwalk. I woke up around 7:15 am, but it was already decided that everybody will gather in Deerwalk complex around 7:30 am.
Sundarijal named after the Hindu goddess Sundarimai, is fifteen kilometers north-east from the Kathmandu valley. Sundarijal is very famous for Canyoning and Canyoneering. It is taken as a gateway for many hikers going towards Chisapani. The gigantic waterfalls and rushing stream; boundless hilly ridges, valleys snowy ranges and green peaks; and the water reservoir site are the major attraction for the visitors.
It was a Saturday morning on 21st June, 2014 and it was my first hiking since I joined Deerwalk Inc. as an Intern along with my friends from college. The hiking expedition from Budhanilkantha to Sundarijal was arranged for the Interns and Trainees at Deerwalk under the leadership of Sandeep Neupane Dai. The day was cloudy and gloomy so I packed my umbrella and reached the Deerwalk office which was our pickup point.
I was very much excited for my first hike with Deerwalk. There were 9 of us in our group (in total there were 26 members with 8 from Deerwalk Inc. and Surendra). We started our journey at around 7:45 a.m. We reached Sundarijal at 8:20 and had our breakfast (samosa tarkari and tea). Surendra presented a brief orientation before we started our hike. He asked team leaders (Anil Lama from our group and Sanjeev Budha from the other) to lead their specific group leaving some suggestions.
Deerwalk has a wonderful work environment with all sorts of exciting activates such as hiking. Hiking is the best way to explore new places. It was a lucky Sunday for me when I arrived at the office for some work. Many of my coworkers were waiting for our CTO, Jeff, who was arriving from USA that day and was supposed to join them on a hike.
Every steep climb, no matter how tough it was, took us closer to the nature. The breathtaking view of the Himalayas by day and stars by night made all the hardships endured worthwhile.
Wake up at 5:30; be at “SAKHA complex” at 6:30 and the plan for rest of the day was unpredictable. All I knew was, we were hiking through Northern Hills of Kathmandu valley, a well known hiking trail from Shivapuri to Sundarijal. Since it was my first hike from D2, I was not sure how things were going to be for rest of the day but I was sure that it will be good hike.
