The sky was still covered with dark patches of cloud when I reached the Deerwalk office. Finally everyone gathered and the van departed at 7:45 AM. The journey geared up with few bites of Snickers. We picked up Regina on the way and there we were, 14 in total. The inner ambience of the van was really heating up with funny chitchats and the song “ma ta babaal jhyaap, ma ta fittu” on the audio player.

Hiking never gets boring because there is always something new to see, learn and experience. So, I was very excited about going on my first hike from Deerwalk Foods (DWF), and woke up early to reach Deerwalk premises. There were 12 of us in our group: 10 staff members from Deerwalk Foods and 2 Directors, Pramod and Kapil, from Deerwalk Services. This hike was special because it was a sort of a farewell for Mohan, ex-manager of DWF, and a welcome for Ram, the new manager of DWF.
I was very much excited for my first hike with Deerwalk. There were 9 of us in our group (in total there were 26 members with 8 from Deerwalk Inc. and Surendra). We started our journey at around 7:45 a.m. We reached Sundarijal at 8:20 and had our breakfast (samosa tarkari and tea). Surendra presented a brief orientation before we started our hike. He asked team leaders (Anil Lama from our group and Sanjeev Budha from the other) to lead their specific group leaving some suggestions.
Work and fun should go together, Deerwalk surely tries to encompass them and hiking is one of those examples. After having joined Deerwalk this was my first hike. It was definitely a good experience and a golden opportunity to have fun and mingle with fellow colleagues.
The QA team of Deerwalk had organized this particular hiking expedition around the north-eastern outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley. We had planned to hike around the Namo Budhha area but a last minute change of plans saw us embarking on this moderately tough hike. We disembarked the van at Kharipati which lies on the way to Nagarkot and started climbing along the foot trails.
