Sudeep Khatiwada’s US Visit

It’s been 13 years since I first started working professionally in the software industry. I’ve attended numerous call sessions to clear things out but a hands-on experience on the products and clients gives you a new insight about software life-cycle which basically sums up my visit to our US office.

Flying has always been a scary experience for me but I realised that it can be a pleasant experience if you have good mates to travel with. Ashish, Sushant, and I were together on this trip. Delayed flight from Kathmandu to Hong Kong and long transit period in JFK Airport to Logan Boston Airport gave us a hard time.

The taxi ride from Boston Airport to Ashay’s place was quite interesting. Our taxi driver was happy to know that Sushant and I were from Nepal and he shared his experience about his classmates who were the children of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa “Akita” (the first Nepalese woman to climb the summit of Mount Everest). It was a fun ride.

I was very excited to meet with our colleagues as I have been working with them for over 4 years and we’ve rarely met in person. I got to experience first-hand, day in and day out, the American work culture. Despite being unable to participate in actual client meetings discussion sessions for client’s issues were really fun. I had a couple of agendas assigned to me for the visit which I had to complete during my stay in Boston Office. I also got to watch baseball and basketball matches. I like playing basketball but it was a whole other world to see professional athletes play the ball game. Thank you, Dave, for the tickets.

It was a really interesting and fruitful experience for and for that I would like to thank the entire Deerwalk Lexington team for making me feel at home and for their hospitality.

Weekends were well spent! Here are some pictures:
