Sangita Maharjan’s US Visit 2

While the country was celebrating one of the biggest festivals Dashain, I was busy preparing for my visit to the United States. On the auspicious day of Tika Sep 30th, I took the flight which would take me to the land of dreams for the second time. I was accompanied by my two colleagues Pratik and Kanchan. We landed at Boston Logan airport on Oct 1st and I took a taxi straight to Ashay dai’s apartment where I would be staying for the next 5 months.

I joined Deerwalk Lexington office the very next day and was very happy to meet all the known faces again as well as my team mates who were eagerly waiting for me to come. Weekdays were very busy delivering outputs, attending calls with clients and providing daily status report of work progress. But we would not miss the chance to have some fun during the working hours, be it at the lunch table or at the US Deerwalk Chautari. Weekends were always filled with excitements and fun especially at B1 palace where we would gather up, cook dinner and eat together like a family. On the month of October, we had ladies Party at Muna Bhauju’s home, Halloween and a day trip to Mohawk trail to view fall season with Ashay Dai and Ekta Bhauju. The trip was amazing and full of adventure.

Next month, I along with my few colleagues went to New York City which I was not able to visit last time. As heard and seen on TV, it is really a city that never sleeps. Roaming around the city was really fun and exciting. We went to the famous Rockefeller Center also known as Top of the Rock, Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan, Central Park, World Trade Center Memorial and Museum. Around Thanksgiving, I went to Washington DC on a road trip where I visited few places around The White House and National Harbor. The month of December was the best of all. Since Christmas and New Year’s day were approaching, I could see everyone in the US office excited and in festive mood. In mid December, we had two visitors from the client’s team in our office for training . They came for a week and it was a great experience for our team to meet them in person and share knowledge with each other. On the same week, we had a holiday party and I enjoyed it a lot, esp when we played the gifts swapping game. The first 3 months were really busy when it came to work and eventful at the same time as we had some dinner invitations and Christmas parties that would eventually help us overcome stress from our busy work schedule. Not to forget, Dum Charades was becoming very popular among us and this was our favorite game to play everywhere we go.

Weekends were always filled with excitements and fun especially at B1 palace where we would gather up, cook dinner and eat together like a family.

January and February were the coldest months where we had storms and snow fall most of the time. But I took some time for myself visiting different shopping malls and eateries in the town with my colleagues. On Feb 4th, I went to Chicago along with Prayash and Pratik to visit our onshore team. This was my second visit to Chicago. We stayed at Bill’s house for a week where we were welcomed with warm hospitality. I was really glad to meet our onshore team again. The meeting was quite fruitful as we could discuss about issues and project updates in person. As a refreshment, the team took us to play a never heard game called Bocce at Pinstripes. It turned out to be quite interesting game to play. During our stay in Chicago, we went to different places like Field Musuem of National History, Millenium Park and Art Institute of Chicago. Before the day we leave for Boston, Bill and Barbara took us for the lunch at the famous Greekland restaurant and Kingston Mines club at the night to groove into some Blues music.

As the days to return back home were coming near, I was becoming busy packing up my stuffs. Before the day I leave, Muna Bhauju took us to a famous Italian restaurant called Bertuccis’s at Lexington Center. I returned back to Nepal on March 2nd. I would like to thank Deerwalk US Family for the love and care that they provided during my stay. There were lots of wonderful moments that shall never be forgotten. My special thanks goes to Rudra dai, Milan dai and Deerwalk Management team for this second opportunity.
