Kakani is a hill station on the northern side of Kathmandu, more quieter and peaceful with its breathtaking scenery. The scenery covers a vast range of peaks stretching from Ganesh Himal to the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Also it offers the view of the woodland of the lower valleys. The roadway from Balaju to Kakani is a challenge for a cycle rider.
The place is famous for strawberry farming. Many people come here to visit the memorial park that is dedicated to the victims of Thai Airways International Flight 311. The environment of Kakani is even more charmed by the Rhododendron that bloom during winter.
