A day full of excitement finally came when I packed my bags for three months long visit to the United States. Although I was a bit nervous about staying so far from home in a completely new place with new cultures and working environment, the feelings of nervousness soon disappeared as I boarded for my first international flight on New Years eve. Wishrut and I flew from Kathmandu airport to Boston via Abu Dhabi, which was 24 hours of long and tiring one. We reached Boston and then took a cab to Ashay’s dai place where Sushant dai and Abanish dai were waiting for us. And, the journey of 3 months at the US began.
I was very wrong about how winter could be in Boston. It was a very chilling winter where the temperature would also go below -16 deg C. Being the first ever experience, I even liked that snowy and bitterly cold weather. I was very excited for my first day to the Lexington office. Everyone welcomed me with a big smile and warm attitude. The days at the office was mostly occupied with meetings and daily client issues. There, I got the opportunity to learn more about the client-side issues that helped me to groom my skill of managing and handling the project in a new way. Indeed, the working pressure was at its peak, but it’s well said that “Great things never came from comfort zones.”.
Apart from work, I got a chance to explore new places. I travelled a few of the states and got to meet different people with different cultures. I planned a trip to one of my ex-deerwalker friend Kritika’s place to Texas. I also visited Washington, Pennsylvania and New York. I also got the opportunity to meet a few of my school friends and their families, which was one of the memorable moments that I will treasure forever. I mostly spent my weekends with Suresh dai and Mukta di’s family where I didn’t have to make any plan to be there. I really appreciate their care for me including Sanjeev dai, Abanish dai, Awanish dai, Namita di, and Rebika di for their support during my three months stay over there.
