In the fast-paced world of software development, where lines of code and deadlines dominate, Deerhold understands how crucial it is to occasionally break free from the digital realm and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the physical world. On November 4th, a diverse group, including a few of our Japanese and American clients, joined us for a brief and delightful scenic hike to Nagarkot.
Our day commenced with a hearty Nepali breakfast, Jeri Swari, at 109 Restaurant. As we fueled our bodies for the day ahead, we took off for an adventure that would blend cultural exploration, physical challenge, and breathtaking scenery.
Our first stop was the Changunarayan Temple, dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu in Hinduism. The detailed architecture and spiritual ambiance provided a glimpse into Nepal's rich cultural tapestry. Our diverse group shared stories and experiences, fostering a sense of friendship that would accompany us throughout the day.
Leaving Changunarayan, we began our hike towards Nagarkot, starting from the picturesque village of Telkot. The journey unfolded through village landscapes, allowing us to connect with the heart of Nepal. Conversations about cultures flowed seamlessly, breaking down barriers and creating a shared understanding among ourselves.
No hike is complete without its challenges, and ours came in the form of a steep uphill section towards the hike's end. Despite the physical strain, the collective spirit of the group prevailed, and we enjoyed the uphill climb. We’d call it a metaphorical climb - symbolizing our shared commitment to overcoming challenges in both work and life.
We reached Nagarkot bus stop and drove to the Mystic Mountain Hotel. The stunning panoramic views of the city below provided the perfect backdrop for a well-deserved lunch. Breaking bread together, our team revealed in the shared accomplishment and marveled at the beauty that surrounded us.
The four-hour journey was not merely a hike; it was an exploration of teamwork, cultural exchange, and personal growth. The experience highlighted the importance of stepping outside our comfort zones and embracing the challenges that come our way. The shared memories forged during this adventure will undoubtedly strengthen our professional relationships and contribute to a more collaborative work environment. As we returned to our desks and computers, we carried with us not only the dust from the trails but also a renewed sense of enthusiasm to excel at work.
