Divya Poudel’s US Visit

It was my second International flight and the first one to the States. I was really excited about this trip, which started on July 31, 2019, at 3 PM. It was raining steadily when I landed in Boston, but the rest of the days turned out to be the best ones. I had an amazing experience while living with the Boston family who made me feel like home all the time. New experiences across the streets, new traffic systems, a new sense of locomotion, everything more advanced than my native land: these are the things I still remember.

The next day was my first day at the US office. I had heard a lot about this place, and I was so delighted to meet the offshore team in person for the first time despite knowing them virtually through emails, calls, and text messages. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to me even though I was meeting some of them for the first time.

Weekdays were never lonely with such an amazing bunch of people at the US Office, and the plans to wander somewhere every weekend made the visit more special every day. Living the first weekend at the smallest US state, the densely populated Rhode Island, amid its interesting colonies, beaches, and seafood, my visit took a different level.

Being used to the US professionals, having knowledge of Providal Portal products to a different level, and having Smriti Di as my mentor, I didn’t feel out of place. Thanks to her for being so flexible regarding my schedule. It was so exciting to visit places like MIT and Havard. Since it was also my first day at Boston, sightseeing across the Charles River made me realize how beautiful the US is.

We also went to Niagara Falls, one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world. It was so amazing, the roar of Niagara amidst the rainbow and its mist, and the wonderful company of Deerwalkers: Shekhar Dai (best travel partner), Sweta Didi (caring person), Prakash Dai (helpful, and yes I only remember the taste of food he made). And not to mention, ‘Maid of the Mist,’ a boat tour of Niagara Falls, was one of the best experiences of my life.

Being in the office always fascinated me to learn a lot of new things. In my third week, I got to see Shweta Manandhar Didi, who was once my Project Manager in the Deerwalk Nepal office. Because of her, I got an opportunity to explore the main landmarks of Boston in one day. I went to see New York, the busiest city in the world. I was a little nervous to travel by myself, but thanks to my dear sister, Richa, who accompanied me to explore the city.

I also got an opportunity to spend time with Rudra Dai and Muna Bhauju at their house and had an enthusiastic lunch. The third week I made a trip to Virginia to see my sister and got a chance to meet the awesome brother-in-law and had a great time with them.

My last week in the US was quite a busy one with dinner invitations coming from different places: it made me feel so special. Thanks to Suresh Dai for a nice family time and helping me do shopping. Also thanks to Abanish Dai for being so helpful and always being there to guide me wherever I went to explore a new place. Thank you, Muna Bhauju, for such a wonderful time, inviting us for an awesome painting night experience, which I enjoyed a lot. Thanks to the amazing Deerwalk people.

Overall, my US visit turned out to be a memorable experience.

I’d like to give a special thanks to Rudra Dai and the Deerwalk management team for providing me with this opportunity, which helped me grow personally and professionally.
