The Saturday morning of 30th March started early for most Deerwalkers as it was the day for Annual Picnic 2013 organized in Kakani. Everyone had already gathered at the venue by 10AM and after a quick breakfast there was just enough time to explore the area before the games began. The picnic spot and the grounds lay on a thickly forested area owned by Nepal Scouts and one could make out a mountain bike trail that led to Shivapuri National Park and beyond. The picnic also provided an opportunity for the employees to interact with the President of Deerwalk, Jeff Gasser, who had just flown in the day before.
As a departure from games of last year, sack race was organized and a brief prize distribution ceremony followed after which the bar was thrown open along with snacks. Slowly the dance floor began to come to life as all joined in the fun. The dance was briefly interrupted when Rudra Dai invited everyone to an improvised game of musical chairs where the chairs were stones laid on the ground to form a huge circle.
The dancing continued till early evening when it was time to leave the venue and head back to Kathmandu for a memorable day enjoyed by everyone.

It was March 30, 2013 Saturday; I was very excited because it was my first time participating in a picnic organized by Deer walk. I was nervous and happy at the same time; nervous as it was my last day as an intern at Deerwalk, happy as picnics are always fun . Our very own Rupesh Karki was the picnic coordinator. Including me, there were above 170 participants in total for the picnic. I got to the office at around 6:50 am, and in an hour we were off for Kakani. After getting to the picnic spot we started off with a little breakfast wetting our appetite for the picnic fun to begin.
Kakani is one of the most beautiful picnic spots in Nuwakot District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. It was my first time there and the magnificence of the place was such that I was left speechless. The road to Kakani was tough but it was well worth it after you get there.
All in all it was great day full of activities and entertainment. The senior executives were very caring and I would love to continue my time with Deerwalk if given the chance.

Such a great day for me, A day full of rejoicing, fun and excitement. The whole ambience was fantastic with cheerful friends, disco music, delicious food, games, drinks, dance; I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I drank, laughed and danced the party like never before. Shack race was memorable one, intense competition between each team. At the end, I think the picnic has brought us closer than before as the bonds between fellow co-workers never felt stronger than on that day.
I really like Thumb dance & Inside sack, after seen this i have decided i will do it with my friends. Such a new concept.
