The final match of the season was held Wednesday. As the location was changed at the last minute, both sides were free of the fan and groupie distractions which have plagued them all season. It was relaxing to get down to some old time “futbol” and that was done. The usual suspects were in attendance and quickly made themselves known.
After sitting out all season Rudra played and when he put his boot on the ball it was apparent the man has game. A little rusty after not competing for many years the old form of “El Rudrito” quickly returned. He showed those of us who never had a chance to see him in action with AC Kathmandu how he earned his “nom de guerre”.
As the match started late, the venue was changed to a pitch without lights. It was quite dark. This slight inconvenience did not trouble the D2 side. Under Himal’s direction the lights of the parked cars were tuned on the field. This provided a surreal Field of Dreams genre. The presence of bleachers in the dark end of the pitch provided an added challenge. Tika was able to use this to his advantage.
As it was very difficult to see, one end was ablaze in light and the other was pitch black only one goal was scored by Himal’s side. As he had a major wager on the match his lighting scheme began to unravel. The league is currently reviewing the game tapes and the payment of the wager is pending the outcome of the review. The wager is with the scribe who has appointed himself league commissioner , the outcome will be as one sided as the congressional hearings on the recent mortgage scam will be. Good luck.
After two hard fought halves of football El Rudrito hosted both sides to a season ending chalk talk at the 99. Beers, wings, and burritos refueled the players who were lucky to emerge unharmed from the “game in the dark”. The early review of game tapes has Himal getting his wager but the league wants him to sweat a little.
The rumor is that in November play will resume indoors. It is only 5 months to the outdoor season.
I have been examinating out a few of your articles and it’s pretty nice stuff. I will make sure to bookmark your website.
El Rudrito is from Naples..oh sorry I meant to se Neples..oh sorry..Nepals..oh it is singular..Nepal. hehe
Bekar ko Natak.
Who is El Rudrito? Italian player? I did not know D2 had any italian player in their team.
GoodSpeed GoodSpeed Enjoy 😆
The lighting seems perfect for Dance Party but do know how you all played a football game. The quality of snaps are low may be due to no light. In the photo no. 14, is he Rudra dai… Nice pose before kicking the football. I hope he kicked the ball and made a goal.
Nishchal dai, I couldn’t see you in those picture shot… Where are you?
As Nishchal said, car headlights as floodlights, the game was definitely a memorable one. I kept the engine running throughout to avoid calling AAA. For all who were not there, you guy surely missed the fun. It was great!! And..yes couple of Sam Adams and buffalo wings was a great way of ending the game.
Never in my life, I played football with half a dozen light system. This might be our last game for this season and played with a style. Due to match in regular football ground we had to find another ground with no light. But as we say where there is a will there is a way, football carried on in the dark with self created flood light system form the vehicles. It’s nice playing in the evening. But sorry, I had a bad camera flash light system.
Good to see Himal is spending his winnings on some better sox. The black sox were lame
