D2 Cricket League – Gameweek 1 – Services vs Rest of D2

On Mar-01-09, Sunday, teams from Services department and Rest of D2 department played a friendly T20 match. Services team was lead by Ritesh whereas the Rest of D2 team was lead by Asim. The match was played for nearly three hours and in the end, Services team emerged victorious.

After winning the toss, Services team chose to bat first. Anup and Ashish opened the innings for Services. But in the second over itself, Ashish became the first one to return to the dressing room after he was out LBW in Bhanu’s ball. The next batsman to come in was Shishir who helped resurrect the Services’ innings. On the other end wickets were tumbling like Pins falling down in a bowling game. Anup, Tejaswee and Dipin lost their wickets in quick succession. However, the batting side steadied the ship once Ritesh, wicket keeping Captain, hopped in. He along with Shishir mustered up the tempo and finished the innings in style. In the process, they played some lovely shots which included some good boundaries. Due to time constraint, match was played only for 18 overs and by then, batting side had accumulated 115 runs.

Asim’s team had a daunting task of reaching 116 runs within 18 overs. It was not a tea biscuit match. Though tough, the target was not impossible at all. With that in mind, Asim’s team went in for the chase. To lead from front, captain (cum wicket keeper) opened the innings along with Subin but the team got an early blow when the lost captain for naught in the opening over itself. Immediately Subin also lost his wicket to a beauty from Chiranjib. MukeshS the next batsman to come in, helped lifting his team’s morale and batted with determination until before he was bowled out by Pravinda. This was a deadly blow and Asim’s team needed someone to steady the innings. Unfortunately, rest of the team followed suit and they were all out for 96 in just 15.3 overs. Chiranjib bowled his best to take four wickets, first ever individual from D2 to take a four wicket haul.

  1. Hello, i think that i saw you visited my blog thus i came to “return the favor”.I am attempting to find things to improve my web site!I suppose its ok to use some of your ideas!!

  2. The cricket culture has just started in D2,its just three sessions old if i am not wrong. Let the cricketing fever intensify even further, and sponsorship will hopefully come along in no time 🙂 ..

  3. I’m playing Football and at the same time I’m in Cricket also. But I found lots difference treatement from D2 to Cricketer and Footballers. D2 need sponsor for Cricket as well. As we are just growing in Cricket field, we need more support from D2. ho ki hoina sathi haru??

  4. Aaba LBW bhaneko leg before wicket bhanechi GBW bhaneko G……. before wicket hola ni 😛

  5. Yo Post ko title ” D2 Cricket League – Gameweek 1 – Services vs Rest of D2″ milena kina ki D2 ma Cricket league surunai bhako cahian .. Na ta kuani league suru bhayo bahnera mail ako cha na ta Match ko schedule ako cha.

Yo ta practice match po ho ta. yetikai league bhanera …. aja Services vs Rest of D2 bhaane!!!

  6. i agree with Pragya.. had the game been extended fro 2 more overs, sishir dai would have surely reached 50. And Chiranjeev had 4 wkts, not 5.
Anyways, it was a great game of criked. Was great fun. See ya all this sunday. 🙂

  7. Had the game been extended to 20 overs, shishir dai would certainly have achieved the first half century at D2 cricket.

  8. I have a big blue spot just above my knee. Andrew Flintoff’s yet another full-toss was missed completely!! hehe

  9. hey in the scorecard, chiranjib got 4, not 5 wickets.
Maybe the reporter counts catches as taking wickets?
    rest of D2?
    that’s a laugh….
