A Nationwide Peace & Unity Lamp Ceremony – Celebrating the 15th Historic Renovation of Swayambhu

In honor of the successful renovation of the Swayambhu Mahacaitya a lamp lighting ceremony will be held at Swayambhu on May 27th, 2010 – Buddha Jayanti. All are invited to light a lamp to express our joint resolve to work towards international cooperation and national unity. Each lamp that is lit is a wish for a bright future and the commitment to create it.

The event will last the course of the day and into the night with the official lighting ceremony at 7:30 pm. For those who are unable to make it to Swayambhu, they are invited to light a lamp in their homes or local community centers, thus joining their light to the light of Swayambhu. Together our lights will become a symbol visible throughout the Valley, Nepal, and the world, a true beacon of light.

End Time: Friday, May 28, 2010 at 12:00am
